My Brave Little Girl

Due to Dengue scare, when Faye had high fever last week, we immediately brought her to the doctor for a blood test.  We couldn’t find anything wrong with her aside from the fever, so, we worried even more.  We kept on asking her if she had difficulty urinating (could be UTI),  or if she had stomach ache, or if her she had difficulty swallowing (could be tonsillitis), but she said she just had headache.
Thankfully, at around 3:00am, her fever subsided to 38.3 degrees C, from 39.5, so, when we brought her to the pediatrician, her temperature was already normal.  The doctor also couldn’t find anything wrong with her, except for a slightly congested throat.  She was relieved when the blood test results came back normal.  She said that although dengue is difficult to detect during the first day of fever, the WBC (white blood cells) of the affected child will show elevated results if she’s afflicted with dengue, thankfully, in Faye’s case, her WBC was normal.  Furthermore, the doctor said, those kids who are suspected with dengue have flushed faces, very red lips, and really look very weak, meaning, physically, you can really tell that there’s something terribly wrong with them, just by looking at them.  And  thank God, Faye was very far from that.  The doctor’s final diagnosis was viral infection.  She didn’t prescribe any medicine, just reminded Faye to increase her  fluid intake.
