All of us need to take charge of our own health. We need to do it for ourselves and for our families. I think all of us would want to see our children grow up and have families of their own, and one way of making this possible is if we are physically healthy so that we will get to enjoy more years with them.
With the high cost of doctor’s consultations, diagnostic tests and laboratory tests, most people forego having check-ups. There are some who are blessed because they work for companies who pay for their medical expenses, but sometimes, the problem lies on the people themselves, because even if they have medical benefits which include the routine annual physical examinations, they still don’t avail of these services, for various excuses: lack of time, being the most common.
I’m one of those people guilty of delaying my medical check-ups, so when I had a medical crisis two weeks ago, I promised to myself that I will finish all the other tests that are included in my annual physical examination package. But it’s difficult to be a woman, I think there are more tests that women need to undergo than the men, and one of the most dreaded is the Mammogram. But then, I have no choice. If I’m going to make good with my promise to myself, I need to have this test. So, last Saturday, I had a medical check-up marathon. After my check-up with my cardiologist in St. Luke’s, my husband and I proceeded to Asian Hospital for the mammogram, but unfortunately, since they don’t allow appointments, there was no more slot for me when we arrived, so I just had the easier test which was the breast sonogram, and I just came back last Monday for the mammogram. It was my third time to have this test, so I already knew what to expect. I know that most women don’t want to undergo this test because of so many speculations about the pain during the procedure, but then, I think, the benefit of having yourself checked and catching whatever abnormal cells you might have far outweighs the dreaded pain that you only need to endure for a few minutes during the procedure.
After the test, I had the urge to take photos of the mammogram machine. I’m just not sure if the machines in other hospitals also look like this.
I haven’t got the results yet for both the sonogram and mammogram, and I hope and pray that I’ll get good news.

Hi new friend, I am now following you via MBC.
Hi I am a great grandmother and I have only been sick with one minor illness in 43 years. I do not believe in a mammogram because I believe that with all these tests that doctors want to give you that the radiation can harm your body. I only take all natural supplements and eat organic food. This great grandmother is a computer nerd and has her own website check it out and stay as healthy as me.
