Let’s Take Charge Of Our Own Health

In my office, staff get to receive reminders for annual physical examination at least two weeks before our appointment dates, and most of the time, I ignore it. That’s bad, I know. Our clinic will send the reminders thrice, I think, before finally letting the staff decide whether they want to be responsible for their own health or not. In my case, when the reminders stop, that’s the time that I start to remember it, and that’s the time that I call up the clinic to get schedule for the various tests. Or sometimes, I still don’t make follow through, and it’s only when I feel something wrong that I remember to have the tests done. I know that it’s not a good habit and that we should all take charge of our own health, and we can only do that if we diligently have our annual physical examination, and if you are blessed with a company which pays for extensive tests, blood work-up, ultrasound, x-rays, Contact lenses, and the further tests that will be needed as a result of the routine tests that you have during your annual physical examination, then the more that you should have yourself checked and take advantage of these benefits.

It happens to me every year. I procrastinate, and then when I feel that there’s something wrong with my health, I start to become anxious and then I’ll have the various tests done. And if everything turns out alright, well and good, but sometimes, it doesn’t happen that way. Just like last year when I was diagnosed with Astigmatism, and until now, I haven’t done anything about it. I was supposed to have eyeglasses to correct it, but I haven’t done it yet. So, that’s my classic example of procrastinating.

Now that I have a series of work-ups to be done to get to the source of my palpitations, I promised to myself that I will really be aggressive in doing this, and I have started by looking for a good electrophysiologist that could help me with my concerns. After my Nuclear Heart Stress Test scheduled on Saturday, which I’m hoping and praying, will have normal results, I’m scheduled to visit a electrophysiologist doctor. No more procrastination.
