Are you familiar with the books written by Joseph F. Girzone, particularly the Joshua series? I learned about this through a church mate. When I read the first book, Joshua, I became very fascinated with it, and when I found out that there was movie made based on it, I even requested my friend to download it for me since it was already an old movie. But then of course, as is often the case, the movie did not give justice to the book, because you cannot simply squeeze in a 1.5 hours movie all the fine details written in a book, and besides I think it was a low-budgeted movie so there were no elaborate settings in the same way that were described in the book.
After reading the Joshua book and after watching the movie, I became more interested with all the other books in the series, I even searched for them online, but I knew that the shipment would be expensive, so I tried searching for them in some thrift bookstores, like the Book Sale in some malls, and yes, I was lucky! I found the Joshua and the Children, and it has the same very heartwarming story as the first book.
And just last Thursday, while I was browsing through the books in my favorite Book Sale in SM Megamall, I found another one! Joshua and The Shepherd. I haven’t finished reading it, but as always, it’s hard to put it down.
It was good that I got to read the Joshua first before I found the two other books. I was even hesitant to read it at first, but when I started reading it, I began to hope that I was living in the same village as described in the story, the same time that they were blessed with Joshua’s presence. Joshua is Jesus Christ in the modern times. And in the story, He went down to Earth again to touch the lives of the village people, through His unobtrusive and humble ways. After reading the book, you would feel differently about some things in your life, and you would start to imagine the possibility of Jesus being present here on Earth once again, just like the old times.
I hope I’ll find more Joshua books in Book Sale. I also hope you’ll get the chance to read these books, because these are really awe-inspiring, and you will have a different outlook in life once you finish one of these books.
