Getting Back on Track

It’s really difficult to get back to your exercise regimen once you get sick. My son who was very active in Taekwondo last summer had to stop when he got injured last May. His recovery period lasted for more than a month because he had to undergo a series of x-rays, consultations with doctor and blood tests, to rule out bone fractures and infections. During summer, he was very excited in attending all the sessions for his Taekwondo, and he even had a promotional test to upgrade his belt. so, he was very disappointed when he got injured because his momentum was stalled because of it. After his recovery, he was more than ready to go back to his training, but then, he got sick again. He had coughs and colds which led to asthma. He had his first asthma attack which really scared me, and when it first happened, I didn’t know even that it was already an asthma attack, and we had to go to different doctors before we finally found the right pulmonologist who was able to help him. After his asthma attacks, I told him to be really careful and to take care of himself. I also required him to take his Vitamin C religiously.

Right now, he’s not yet back to his Martial arts training because the doctor hasn’t given him a go signal yet. So, what he’s doing is he watches some Martial arts DVD at home and practices a little bit. Hopefully, in due time, he will be able to get back to his lessons. I also told him that if he wants, I can enroll him in our gym in the office, and he can go there every Saturday after his class. He seemed excited about it and now keeps on asking me about it. I guess I have to make good on my promise to enroll him to the gym.
