After 5 weeks of walking around the basketball court in my office, I’m back to the gym, and I’ve been going there religiously for the past 4 weeks. Since then, I’ve lost a few pounds and I also felt the health benefits especially with regards to my palpitations. Unlike before when walking just a short distance would cause my heart to beat really fast — which scared me because I have an existing heart arrhythmia problem — I can now spend 20 minutes on a cross trainer and 20 minutes on a treadmill. Of course I had to be really careful and I had to be constantly aware of my heartbeat because I’m still scared of what the cardiologist in Asian Hospital told me back in 2005 when I was confined there due to skipped beats, that arrhythmia “could make a person just drop dead”.
Ever since I started exercising, my palpitations have not been as frequent as before, and there are even days when I don’t feel the need to take my maintenance medicine. But then, yesterday, I wasn’t feeling well and I could feel my strong heartbeat, with occasional skipped beats. I tried to ignore it, but it persisted until the evening. I really hate it when I have palpitations during the night because it makes me awfully scared, I couldn’t sleep and eventually I’ll have anxiety attack, which will just make the skipped beats worse.
As I was trying to figure out why my skipped beats and palpitations were back, I then remembered the Del Monte Fit n Right which I’ve been drinking for the past week. I figured it was the culprit because when I searched the internet for the connection between L-Carnitine and palpitations, I found several sites which confirmed that L-Carnitine causes palpitations to some people, and unfortunately I am one of those people, I guess because I already have a heart rhythm problem to begin with. I think what made it worse for me was I consumed 1 liter of Fit n Right in 1 day, but of course, to normal people, that’s the recommended consumption. So, now, I eliminated Fit n Right from my daily drink, but I still want more fiber in my diet, so I just bought the Del Monte pure pineapple juice in can — minus the L-Carnitine ingredient.

Hi! Thank you for sharing…
I am not sure if I have heart problems but my heart beats faster, every time I climbed the stairs of an overpass or just a plain walk. I feel an abnormal erratic heart beat. Perhaps, I have to have a little exercises then especially I am now facing computer all the time and stay-at-home.
On gym workouts, I tried it but then I hate the no. of one exercises given by the instructors because (again) it makes my heart beat faster especially, if it's my first time to do it. I agree anxiety attacks because I fear for my heart.
same here! even a glass of fit and right would really cause me palpitations, i haven't seen the doctor yet why sometimes i have irregular heartbeats and sometimes difficult in breathing. im scared though.
