Summer’s Almost Over

Summer vacation is almost over here in the Philippines, and my family has been very  busy.  Our weekends are always filled with activities and whenever Monday comes, we always ask, “where did the weekend go?”  Just like this weekend, our commitments were way, way over our heads, that we had to forgo attending two activities because inasmuch as we would like to  attend all our scheduled activities, we couldn’t do everything because we were also limited by our own physical capacity.  The intense heat doesn’t help either because it leaves us so drained of energy, which almost stop us from moving from one activity to another.
Due to our heavy schedule, there are times when my kids tell me, “Mommy, I want to stay home” or “Can we just have some bonding time at home?” Probably because they are also exhausted with all the road trips and the late nights.  But, summer’s not over yet, we still have out-of-town trips scheduled for the next three weekends, I just wish my kids will still have some energy left before the new school year officially starts.  Our activities for the next few weeks are trips to the beach, although my long time wish is to go camping with the family.  Camping tents have always been so fascinating to me, and I would love to go hiking with my family and spend the nights inside one of those tents. I’m sure the kids will also love it.
One of our goals in making sure that we have lots of activities during summer is to create special memories that our kids will remember, and will bring with them as they build their own families.  We want to instill in their minds the importance of family bonding times, and that they need not spend too much just to have some fun,  what’s important is that the family is together and intact.
