We knew the importance of self defense that’s why we encouraged him to attend Taekwondo lessons while he was still in grade school. I still remember the first competition that he joined, which I actually just watched on video, because I was scared of watching it live during the competition itself. His Dad went all out in supporting him but he admitted later that he was also very nervous while watching the competition, and true enough, when they went home and showed us the video, I wasn’t also prepared to see my son getting kicked by his opponent. He even got a silver medal from that competition, and it would have been a gold if he didn’t get a deduction for turning his back on his opponent during a match, which we learned was not allowed in Taekwondo.
Tomorrow, he will be having a promotional test and I know he’s been eagerly waiting for this opportunity. He also mentioned that his instructor is also very eager for him to get this promotion because Earvin has been attending his classes for so long, and he’s really overdue for belt promotion.
So, tomorrow we’re off to watch his promotional test, I hope he’ll pass it with flying colors.
