Countdown Begins for the Opening of Classes

Hey, summer’s almost over!  Are you ready to welcome the new school year?  Have you enrolled your kids?  Have you shopped for new uniforms, shoes and school supplies for your kids? Are your kids excited?
Some kids are not excited, because going back to school would mean: they need to go to sleep early and wake up early, no TV during weekdays, homework and school projects to finish, and plenty of school activities which could be so tiring that all they want to do at the end of the day is to just sleep.  But most kids are also looking forward to school opening because they would meet new friends and new teachers.  They are also excited because they would have new bags, new shoes, and for some, a complete set of  new uniforms.  I also remember my kids being excited with having their new ID pictures, with new badge holder, of course.  They look forward to it and make sure that they really look good and well-groomed on the scheduled day of ID photo shoot.

Preparing for the new school year can be so time-consuming.  If you wait for the last-minute before buying school stuff, be ready for over crowded Malls and bookstores, so you should allocate enough time when doing your shopping.  Preparation doesn’t only mean buying new uniforms, shoes, and school supplies. It also means no late nights for your kids, and they should also start waking up early, at least two weeks prior to the first day of school.  This will make sure that you will have no early-morning battles with your kids during school days.  You should also refresh your kids about the rules that you implement during school days, specifically, no TV and no computer games allowed during weekdays.  These things will instill in their minds the self-discipline that you expect from them.
So, now that the countdown has begun, we still have a few weeks left to enjoy the summer vacation.  Let’s all make sure that our kids have lots of happy summer memories that they can share with their friends when they go back to school.  They will also have lots of things to share if ever their teachers ask them to write down their “Most Memorable Summer Activity”.
