We will have the National and Local elections in the Philippines in a few months' time. The candidates are now busy trying to win the attention and eventually the votes of the people. Even months before the official campaign period started, most of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates have already spent so much money on television, radio and print advertisements, that people are beginning to wonder, how on earth do they expect to get back those millions of money they spent on their ads? Is it through another round of corruption as soon as they are in power? It's difficult to decide on who deserves our vote. We are only entitled to one vote for each position so we should be very careful and make sure that we have made the necessary preparations prior to the election day on May 10. The future of our country for the next 6 years lies in our hands, so I hope that we will intelligently exercise our right to vote. We shouldn't be easily swayed by the empty promises of the candidates, but instead, we should do our own research about each of them.
Voting is an individual preference, so, it's not necessary that you and your husband/wife have the same candidates in mind, you may not agree on who to vote, but it doesn't matter, for as long as you feel that you are right and that certain candidate deserves your vote.
Let's all be prepared because it's only through this that we can confidently say to our kids that we have given our votes only to the deserving candidates that could hold the future of our country.
I have compiled some guidelines which could help us in the major decision that we are about to make: Vote wisely.
