It’s Always Nice to See an Old Friend

Last Saturday was a hectic day.

I had a scheduled High School Reunion in the afternoon which I didn’t want to miss — it was the 25th Anniversary of my Batch! and I also had to see an old friend who was here for a vacation from New Zealand. Her family was back for only a short time, in fact, last Saturday was their last day and their flight back to NZ was in the evening, so, I really had to see her. Actually, they already went to my place last Tuesday, but unfortunately, we weren’t home when they came. Of all the days that my husband could have gone out for dinner, it was the same day that they decided to visit us. And to top it all, I left my cellphone in the car, so when she texted and called me to tell me that they were in my place, of course, I didn’t get it. When we returned to the car, I saw my cellphone on my seat — I didn’t even notice that it wasn’t with me until I saw it there — which had missed calls and text messages. I immediately called her and apologized, although it was too late because they had already left. She said they were flying back to NZ on Saturday night, so, my husband and I decided to visit her place after asking her if it was still alright with her and if she wouldn’t be too busy preparing for their flight back.

She was surprised to see her grown-up “inaanak”. She’s my son’s godmother and she last saw him 7 years ago. I was also surprised to see her grown-up kids, although I didn’t get to see her eldest son because he had an earlier flight back to NZ the day before with his Dad.

It’s really nice to see an old friend…. although I had to rush because I had to attend the reunion…

On our way back to our place, we couldn’t resist the urge to stop by the road when we saw this lake. It was really nice and I couldn’t believe that it was just along the road, so, we made a 2-minute stop, and took these photos.
