Hurdling UPCAT

Last weekend (2&3 August), all roads led to UP Diliman for the UPCAT. My son’s schedule was yesterday, 6:30am-11:00N. We left the house at 4:30am because we were told that the traffic would really be heavy. We reached UP at around 5:30am and traffic was already slow from the entrance, but we managed to find his building in just a few minutes. From what we heard from the other parents, the volume of vehicles were not like the previous years, and the students were not as many as before. Probably it’s because of the exams that UP conducted in various schools in the provinces, thus, lessening the volume of examinees in the main campus. Earvin seemed relaxed, but when he was about to enter the building he said he was having stomach cramps. Oh oh, could be the tension … We prayed together as a family before he entered the building, and asked God’s intervention that our son will be prepared in whatever would be the outcome of the exams.

We didn’t want to lose the parking space that we had, so, we just stayed in the canteen while waiting for him. I even saw a friend (my former officemate and my daughter’s Ninang – godmother), and her son was also taking the exams. We haven’t seen each other for years, so, it was really such a nice surprise to see her.

When Earvin finished the exams, I saw the relief in his eyes. While earlier he wouldn’t let me to take his picture (i just wanted a souvenir shot before he entered the building), now he obliged to have his picture taken with Faye — see the smile on his face? Of course, his smile was because he was able to finish the exams — he said he’s just not sure if he will pass it… We told him that what’s important is he did his best.

Update: For those who were asking about the course that he wanted to take, he hasn’t changed his mind yet —- it’s still Medicine for him, but he’s still undecided about the pre-Med course that he’s going to take…
